Training Update: Weeks 42 to 46 - Wherein B-HAG Running goes off the air (for the week)
OK. No podcast this week, I’ve been too flat out with work and wanted to prioritise training in my free time – so, you’ll be spared my dulcet dull tones for a week.
Instead, here’s a quick recap of the last few weeks of training as it’s been a while since I’ve actually posted a training update to the blog.
Week 42
Total run: 44.1km
Week 43
Total run: 19.5 km (This was where I missed my weekly long run due to a back strain)
Week 44
Total run: 36.5km
Week 45
Total run: 36.7km
Week 46
Total run: 46.6km
Total kms run in 2010 to date as at 19 November: 1743km (143km over my goal of 1600km of 1000 miles. Now shooting for an even 2000km for the year.)
The half marathon training plan I’m currently using has seen me doing far fewer kms per week than I did whilst training for the marathon. My longest run in the current training cycle was last Saturday. It was 24km or 15 miles.
While the running kms have been fewer, I have been far more regular and consistent with my cross training and my core training. Switching to do all my workouts first thing in the morning has also helped, allowing me to focus my time in the evenings on family.
It will be three weeks on Sunday until the Canberra Half Iron where I’ll be doing the run leg as part of a three-man relay team with my colleagues undertaking the swim and bike rides respectively. I’m really looking forward to this event.
Once that is over though, the way is cleared to focus more on developing my knowledge and experience with trail running – as well as building up my off-road running base over the summer.
